Location: Rapid City, SD Call Sign: K0VVY Founded: 1959 Website: http://www.sdsmt.edu/student-orgs/hamclub/index.html The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Amateur Radio Club has been surfing the waves since 1959! We meet every Wednesday night at 5PM on the third floor of the ECE/PHYS building in the Ham Shack. The club adviser is Dr. Michael Batchelder, KB0ZND, whom oversees the club at SDSM&T. We manage an Echolink Node (#457882) on 147.500MHz. In addition to that, our shack includes a Icom IC-756 PRO III, and MFJ-998 Autotuner, and 500' wire loop on the roof of the Electrical Engineering Building, and an MFJ-1775 multi-band antenna. There is also a Yaesu FT-100D that will be part of our "Field Day Kit." We are planning on making an annual trip up to Harney Peak here in SD as our club's Field Day activity, and in preperation of that are looking into Kite-lifted and Ballon-lifted antennas. Other activities that we participate in include, but are not limited to; School Club Round-Up, Collegiate Championship, SkyWarn Recognition Day, and the PSK Flavors Contest in April.
