Callsign: K4FAU Location: Boca Raton, Florida Founded: 1964 Website: www.k4fau.org The Florida Atlantic University Amateur Radio Club was first assigned K4FAU by the FCC in 1964 with Charles D. Ritchie (W4BUG) SK as the first trustee. Throughout the years the club has known several ups and downs and after some years of dormancy, the club was reborn in 1991 by the gift of radio equipment and the interest of Shirley M. Ritchie (N4JKI), trustee at the time. The present trustee and advisor of the club is Henry (Hank) B. Vansant (N3HV), laboratory manager for the department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering. Members are welcome to operate the K4FAU amateur radio club stations at any time as long as they operate within their own FCC license or under supervision of a licensed operator. Operators of the club station may use their own call as well as the club call when operating the station. A small VHF/UHF station is located on the third floor of the science/engineering (SE 43). The SE building also houses the club’s UHF repeater. The repeater is equipped with IRLP (4999) and EchoLink (392896) and operates on 444.925 with a tone of 110.9. The club’s main station is located in T6. Here we have a full HF station capable of operation on all HF bands. Despite the simple setup of the station the club and its members have won several awards in contests from this location.
